Employee Spotlight: Mark English
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to E&A Team’s founder and President, Mark English!
This blog post spotlights Mark and lets you learn more fun facts about our President.
1. How long have you been with E&A Team, and what do you do here?
I am the founder and president of E&A Team, which I started in my garage in 1992.
2. What is your favorite thing about working for E&A Team?
I really appreciate the community of uniquely-talented team members we have built-in recent years, as well as the opportunity to work with clients in all 50 states and all the US Territories.
3. How have you grown as an individual since working for E&A Team?
Over the years, I have come to realize that I am capable of doing some things for E&A very well, but that I am not equipped to successfully navigate every area of the business on my own. This realization helps me better appreciate the other members of the E&A team (25 and growing) because together we are able to accomplish more than any one of us could do individually.
4. What is one of your proudest moments at E&A Team?
One of the proudest moments of my career was when we designed the first-ever training program for the American Institute of Architects on Section 504 and Fair Housing Accessibility. Up until that time, they had only offered accessibility training on ADA regulations. Another proud moment I can recall was when we were asked to be on the team to help develop an Accessibility Toolkit for the National Apartment Association.
5. What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I was a certified “Memphis in May” barbeque judge and that I once even owned my own marinade company.
6. What are some of your favorite things?
I love spending time with my family and friends, especially my wife and grandchildren. I enjoy having old and new friends over to our home and barbecuing in the outdoor kitchen in my backyard. I also love to play golf but I have decided that, at my current skill level, I should probably keep my day job.
7. What would your perfect day off include?
On my perfect day off, I would spend some very successful time on the golf course before meeting up with and grilling for family and friends in my favorite outdoor kitchen.
